OUR MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Running for office for the first time can be a daunting task filled with uncertainties.  The thrill of stepping into a new realm of public service often comes with an equally significant amount of anxiety.  To ease this transition, we have designed a mentorship program to pair new candidates with experienced mentors who are able to provide encouragement, support, and knowledge to the candidate.

The mentorship program is designed to help candidates running for local office, who-upon completion of a training class by the NWPC-STL Training Institute would like additional support by a “seasoned” Caucus member mentor.  This “mentor support” is defined as helping the candidate by connecting with the mentee to understand the mission of the Women’s Political Caucus, helping her set directions for her campaign and providing moral support and some expertise on running the campaign. The mentor must connect with the mentee at least once but could connect as needed by the mentee.

Note:

1. The Mentor is NOT a campaign manager or campaign coordinator and is not expected to take a political position in support of her mentee.

2. The opportunity to have a mentor is given ONLY in local (March/April) elections.

3. Though every effort will be made to match all requests, there is no guarantee that all requests will be able to be filled.

How do I get to have a Mentor? One must have taken a NWPC-STL training class and completed the Mentor application. One must submit the required request for a mentor form within 5 days of having taken the training.
